Congrats to Big in Japan!

Big in Japan created Shop Savvy. The app that runs on the G1 snaps a picture of a barcode and finds the best prices around your area for that item. Brilliant.

Giovanni Interview

Giovanni on Viewzi.TV

Giovanni Gallucci of Viewzi.TV and Xtrain
will present:

Mobile Social Media trends in the US

Recursion Software

Bob DeAnna (Recursion Software CTO) will present:
Voyager Mobile Platform and cover the topic of fragmentation, performance and other development challenges facing architects and engineers when deploying location-aware, mobile and pervasive applications. With competing market share between Android and iPhone SDKs, the choice of whether to write separate code for separate operating systems or forgo a large segment of devices is a problem mobile platforms and middleware must solve. Yet the proliferation of these applications also presents scaling and bandwidth challenges, as we have seen with Twitter’s recent scaling issues. What happens when an application’s popularity is its own downfall?

Voyager Mobile Platform:

* Voyager makes every device an intelligent client & server. Its decentralized peer-to-peer/group messaging, discovery, and edge processing avoids the single point of failure and proprietary hardware requirements that hinder even today’s most popular mobile applications.
* Voyager future-proofs your applications. It serves as an abstraction layer so developers can leverage the same code base for multiple OSs and languages, and even integrate legacy applications. Voyager bridges desktops to phones to embedded devices—even devices that cannot run web applications.
* Voyager is fast, very fast. It’s faster than RMI and web apps that do not perform or scale effectively. Voyager scales to enable collaboration on an entirely new level: distributing information, files and multimedia within ad hoc communities.
